Maduro sworn in as president of Venezuela

SANAA, Jan. 11 (YPA) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was sworn in before the Supreme Court on Thursday, starting a second term in six years.

“A new world has emerged that refuses to be controlled by the dominant imperialist regimes in one country or countries in orbit,” Maduro said during the inauguration ceremony after swearing in.

He added, “This is the call that our revolution sends to the peoples and governments of the world.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Presidents of Cuba, El Salvador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as representatives of Russia, China and Turkey.

Washington, as usual, accused Maduro of “taking the power by force” and instructed its allies in Latin America to sever ties with Venezuela in a sign of its continued aggressive policy towards Venezuela.
