Hamdok reaffirms commitment to democratic transition

KHARTOUM, Oct. 28 (YPA) – A source close to Sudanese Prime Minister Abdulla Hamdok, who is under house arrest in Khartoum, said he is still committed to civil democratic transition.

Hamdok warned against using violence against protesters who denounced his ouster through a “military coup,” the source told Reuters.

Hamdok reiterated his commitment to the goals of the December 2018 revolution, which toppled former President Omar al-Bashir.

“Any retreat from the democratic process is a threat to stability, security and development in Sudan,” the source said.

Hamdok returned home on Tuesday evening, under a house arrest, amid international condemnation of his abduction and the coup in Sudan.
