Sanaa airport director refutes coalition remarks on patient transport flights

SANAA, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Sanaa International Airport’s Director Khaled al- Shayef denied what was announced Tuesday by Saudi-led coalition’s spokesperson Truki al-Maliki on the conduct of flights from the airport to transport patients in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

In a statement to Yemen Press Agency, al- Shayef confirmed the continuation of the ban on Sanaa Airport and the limitation of flights to UN planes.

Sanaa Airport was due to reopen for flights last Saturday, after being delayed more than once, which prompted al-Shayef to announce to the media that the United Nations does not have credibility in the file of lifting the ban on the airport.

“The United Nations is disavowing the agreement, reached on October 20 last year, to start an air bridge to transport patients suffering from a critical situation requiring travel abroad,” he said.
