SANAA, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Hussein Hazib on Thursday opened the first scientific forum for Yemeni translators, organized by the Yemeni University in coordination with the scientific research sector in the ministry.
During the forum, which was attended by a group of academics, researchers and translators in various Yemeni universities, the minister praised the idea of the forum to discuss the situation of translation and Yemeni translators, as well as the provision of support for the concerned institutions to play their role in translating and conveying what is happening in Yemen to the world.
Hazib indicated to the need for specialized translators to translate Yemen’s history and civilization into several languages in order to familiarize the world with Yemen’s civilization, history and culture which span more than six thousand years.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Yemeni University Dr. Abdulhamid al-Sayh said that the forum aims to introduce the role of translation and Yemeni translators, and the conditions to be met by translators to encourage them to translate the Yemeni books into different languages of the world.
