MAHRAH, Feb. 26 (YPA) -Reports state that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Southern Transitional Council (STC), continues to carry out recruitment for its armed militias, which it is creating in many southern provinces, including Mahrah.
The “al-Mahra Post” website has stated that it has obtained documents confirming that the UAE, through its tools in the province of Shabwah, which is called the “al-Shabwah Elite”, is recruiting about 1,000 people in the province for the purpose of being deployed as militias.
“After the completion of the training process for these militias, the UAE is seeking to send them to three areas, namely Khour, Merkhah and Mahrah,” the website added.
The UAE has resorted to encouraging Shabwah’s population to recruit and enlist in these militias, so that many of them will be sent to Mahrah province, following a failure of recruiting the local population.
The UAE has also stepped up its attempts to militarize Mahrah province through the creation of the so-called al-Mahra Elite Forces, as it’s military arms in the province.
The UAE has supported these militias in order to complete its control over the Yemeni ports and islands in the south and east.
