Two killed in southwest China quake
SANAA, Feb. 26 (YPA) – At least two people were killed in an earthquake that hit southwest China’s Sichuan Province, Chinese authorities said.
An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred Monday at 13.15 p.m. Beijing time in Gongsin City, Sichuan Province, at a depth of 5 kilometers, according to the Sputnik agency.
Earthquakes are very common in China, especially in western provinces and regions, especially in Sichuan, Tibet Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The May 2008 earthquake was the worst earthquake in the country, with some 87,000 people killed and more than 374,000 missing, and economic losses estimated at $ 150 billion.
