Pope Francis calls for end to wars in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya

SANAA, Feb. 5 (YPA) – Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics, called on Monday for an end to wars in the Middle East, naming Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya

“The wars in Yemen, Syria, Libya and Iraq must be stopped,” the Pope was quoted as saying during a conference on religions in the United Arab Emirates.

He condemned the escalation of violence and extremism in the region and the emergence of terrorist organizations, foremost among which is the so-called Da’esh organization.

Violence, extremism or fanaticism could never be justified in the name of religion, he said.

He also called for religious freedom “not limited only to freedom of worship”, justice and for religions to “stand on the side of the poor”.

Francis stressed the impossibility of justifying religious violence, calling for religious freedoms, that not limited only to freedom of worship”, justice and for religions to “stand on the side of the poor, also stopped the arms race, built buffer walls and extended areas of influence and hostile policies at the expense of others, as they undermine the security and stability of the region.

It is worth noting that the policies of the Israeli enemy entity and US President Donald Trump are based on the construction of racist walls against the Palestinians and on the border with Mexico.
