Saudi Arabia converts Aden airport into a base to supply its factions with arms, ammunition

SANAA, Oct. 08 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has worked to transform Aden International Airport from a vital civilian facility into a military barracks affiliated with foreign forces.

This move has been described by many human rights activists as a “flagrant violation of international charters and laws that prohibit the use of civilian objects for military purposes.”

Meanwhile, activists from the city of Aden accuse Saudi Arabia of “using Aden Airport’s runways to receive military cargo planes loaded with equipment and ammunition, putting the safety and security of civilian travel at constant risk,” amid ongoing warnings issued by Sanaa forces to Saudi forces.

Many observers believe that recent developments since last January have driven the Saudi forces’ command to turn Aden Airport into an operational base for receiving and transporting multinational forces and foreign mercenaries of various nationalities, including Sudanese and Pakistanis, as well as terrorist elements brought in from Syria.

This points to Saudi Arabia’s direction and intentions to shift the conflict to Aden and the rest of the southern governorates in service of American and “Israeli” agendas, particularly following the Sanaa forces’ control over Yemen’s western coast reaching the Bab al-Mandab Strait over the past month.

Recent days have also recorded a notable surge in the number of military flights by Saudi and foreign cargo aircraft arriving at Aden Airport. This heavy influx of weapons and ammunition reflects an urgent desire to impose a new military reality that serves foreign agendas, while in no way serving the people of the southern governorates, who are demanding an end to Saudi guardianship.

In a related context, Sanaa forces officially announced on Wednesday, that they targeted military supplies that had arrived at the adjacent Badr Camp near the airport, confirming that the ballistic missile strike resulted in the death and injury of several Saudi officers. Meanwhile, journalists from Aden confirmed that missiles from the Sanaa forces struck the camp adjacent to the airport, without causing any damage to the airport itself.

This heavy Saudi reliance on Aden Airport as a primary military entry point follows precision strikes targeting lines and centers of Saudi military reinforcements and mobilizations at the Al-Wadeeah border crossing and the Al-Abr road, in addition to camps located in Marib, Hadramout, and other areas.

On the ground, video clips published by Aden activists early this morning showed the departure of an unidentified foreign cargo plane immediately after the military supplies that arrived at Badr Camp were targeted.

Observers from areas under Saudi control view that this situation should prompt southern components opposed to the Saudi presence to assume their national responsibility and stand firmly against the militarization of civilian facilities. Silence regarding the use of Yemeni lands and ports under Saudi control, as well as dragging the people of the southern governorates into proxy wars, makes them fuel for confrontations that ultimately do not serve the Southern Cause.

Accordingly, these forces and components must insist on neutralizing Aden Airport, seaports, and land crossings from all Saudi military activities and violations, through sustained popular pressure to prevent the airport from being used as a military base or as a transit corridor for the near-daily weapon shipments arriving there.
