AMMAN, Feb. 4 (YPA) – The Office of the Special Envoy of UN Secretary-General for Yemen on Monday said the Supervisory Committee on the implementation of the prisoners exchange agreement would convene in Jordan’s capital of Amman on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
According to the office, the committee includes representatives from both parties to the conflict in Yemen, the office of the UN special envoy to Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The UN special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and ICRC President Peter Maurer are scheduled to participate in the first day of the committee’s meeting.
During this round of meetings, the supervisory committee will discuss the steps taken by the two parties to finalize the lists of prisoners provided by both sides earlier in January 2019 in order to advance the implementation of the agreement.
The office noted that the prisoner exchange agreement, signed in December 2018, was the first agreement concluded between the two parties since the outbreak of the war in Yemen.
