SANAA, Oct. 31 (YPA) – US Defense Secretary Jims Jim Mattis has called on the Yemenis parties to the conflict for a cease-fire within 30 days and serious negotiations to end the war in Yemen.
The terms of the peace talks should include a cessation of hostilities and (the removal of weapons from the border), Mattis said during his Speech at a seminar organized by the US Peace Institute in Washington D.C. on Tuesday.
The US Defense secretary said that the cessation of hostilities would allow the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths to bring together various parties in Sweden on the same table, stressing, that “We want to see all parties at the negotiating table within a month from now.”
Earlier on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has urged the Saudi-led coalition to stop airstrikes on heavily populated Yemen.
