LAHJ, Oct. 31 (YPA) – Saudi warplanes launched a series of heavy airstrikes on Saturday, targeting a key supply route linking western and southern Yemen.
Local and tribal sources in Lahj province said Saudi warplanes dropped dozens of bombs and missiles directly the Hayjat al-Abd Road, which connects southern Taiz with western Lahj.
The strikes destroyed large sections of the mountain road, completely cutting it off to traffic and movement.
The sources said the unprecedented airstrikes came as Sanaa forces made rapid advances in Lahj’s districts bordering Aden.
The forces had reportedly taken full control of the strategic Al-Maqatirah district, including its administrative center, Al-Rubou market, and its historic fortress.
Military observers said Saudi Arabia’s targeting of the vital road reflected the scale of the setbacks suffered by Saudi-backed factions on the ground and appeared to be an attempt to slow the advance toward Aden.
