SANAA, Oct. 31 (YPA) – At least 11 people died in fierce storms battering Italy for the third consecutive day, as well as many parts of Venice.
According to Reuters, “the water is still flooded St. Mark’s Square in Venice for the second day as well as a nearby cathedral of the same name rose water level to 90 centimeters.
This is the second time in this century and fifth times that the cathedral has been flooded with such a high level of water in its 1,000-year history, Italian media reported.
Extensive damage was also reported in towns and cities in northern, southern and central Italy.
Many of the deaths were due to trees crashing down on cars and pedestrians after the country was hit a 150-km-per-hour wind.
