Saudi-backed factions worsen Taiz siege, forcing cancer, kidney patients into displacement
SANAA, Oct. 04 (YPA) – The Ministry of Public Health and Population in Sanaa has warned of an impending health catastrophe threatening the lives of hundreds of patients in Taiz Governorate, due to the continued closure of vital main roads—particularly the Al-Houban route—by Saudi-backed armed factions.
In a statement, the ministry explained that control over dialysis and oncology centers inside Taiz city by factions loyal to Riyadh has deprived patients of medical care. This situation has forced hundreds of individuals to trek on foot or endure arduous travel toward non-aligned governorates, placing intense pressure on the dialysis center in Sanaa beyond its operational capacity.
The statement stressed that the blockade of Taiz access points by Saudi-linked factions reflects a stark disregard for civilian lives and an attempt to leverage the humanitarian and health situation for political and military gains following field losses, noting that there is no justification for road closures and intensifying the siege on the residents of the governorate.
