SANAA, Sept. 17 (YPA) – US Congressman Joe Wilson has called on Türkiye and Pakistan to help Saudi Arabia confront the “Houthis” in Yemen, in what appears to be a message that Washington does not intend to become directly involved in a new war.
In a post on X, Wilson told Saudi Arabia to let Pakistanis and Turks “liberate Yemen” from what he called the “Houthis.”
Wilson also referred to the trilateral defense agreement signed by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan in Mecca , which provides for mutual defense if any of the three countries comes under attack.
Wilson’s remarks on the trilateral alliance were part of unofficial US messages indicating that President Donald Trump believes the Mecca alliance can confront the “Houthis”.
The remarks came as Saudi Arabia struggles to rally support for a new escalation in Yemen.
