Sanaa urges shipping companies to rely on its official maritime information
SANAA, Sept. 15 (YPA) – Yemeni authorities in Sanaa on Monday urged shipping lines and maritime companies to rely on official information on navigation and maritime conditions in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Zaid Al-Washli, chairman of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, said maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait is stable and operating smoothly.
His remarks came during an official visit to the Mocha Port.
Al-Washli said about 85 vessels had transited the Bab al-Mandab Strait within 72 hours, representing nearly 96% of normal traffic levels.
He said Mocha Port was ready to gradually resume its commercial and maritime operations.
He urged shipping companies to obtain information directly from the relevant authorities, particularly Sanaa’s Ministry of Transport and the Humanitarian Affairs Coordination Operations Center, which he said are responsible for providing information on maritime traffic and conditions.
Regarding Mocha Port, Al-Washli said the corporation was taking initial steps to rehabilitate its facilities and restore operations.
The official said the port had suffered damage while being used as a military site by Saudi-led forces and allied groups, affecting its infrastructure and historical role.
He stressed that restoring Mocha Port and placing its facilities back under the corporation’s management would be an important step toward reopening the port and restoring its maritime and commercial role within Yemen’s Red Sea port system.
