Iran’s IRGC shoots down US drone over Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, Sept. 14 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force announced it has detected and shot down a US ‘MQ-1’ drone flying over the Strait of Hormuz using an advanced air defense system integrated into its defense network.

The downing comes amid ongoing military escalation and heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington in the region. Reports on the same day indicated that IRGC forces seized an American unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) at the entrance of the strait.

The escalating friction increases international concerns over the potential impact of security developments on maritime navigation and energy supplies through this strategic waterway.
