Southern resistance leader acknowledges Sanaa’s service, military superiority, criticizes Saudi Arabia, its allied government

SANAA, Aug. 22 (YPA) – Prominent “Southern Resistance” leader and tribal figure Salem Abu Zaid al-Khulaifi has launched a sharp attack against Saudi Arabia and the Riyadh-based Aden government, citing a 12-year failure to govern Aden and the southern and eastern governorates effectively, compared to the economic, administrative, and military performance of the Sanaa government.

In a post on the X platform, al-Khulaifi stated that the governance failures in Saudi-controlled areas are evident in the continuous depreciation of the local currency, severe shortages of basic services such as electricity, water, and fuel, and the failure to pay public-sector salaries.

Conversely, the southern leader outlined what he described as key achievements by Sanaa, including:

  • Maintaining exchange-rate stability and securing essential goods at steady prices despite the ongoing blockade and airstrikes by the US, “Israel”, and the Saudi-led coalition.
  • Establishing strategic deterrence capabilities, including launching hypersonic missiles and drones targeting “Zionist entity” in solidarity with Gaza.
  • Confronting international forces—specifically the US, the UK, and “Israel”—in the Red and Arabian Seas and securing operational gains.

Al-Khulaifi concluded by stating that his acknowledgment of Sanaa’s achievements stems from a “moral duty to speak the truth” at this critical juncture, rather than political allegiance.
