SANAA, Aug. 21 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning forecast scattered rainfall of varying intensity across several governorates over the next 24 hours.
According to the center’s weather bulletin, rain of varying intensity, accompanied by strong downdraft winds and hail, are expected in Bayda, Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Sanaa, Amran, Mahwit, Hajjah, and Saada, extending to parts of the Tihama Plain and western coastal areas.
Scattered rain, with occasional thunderstorms, is also expected over the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Marib, and Jawf, as well as parts of the highlands and deserts of Mahra and Hadramout governorates.
The center warned of sudden flash floods in ravines and valleys, urging citizens to avoid waterways during and after rainfall and motorists not to cross low-lying bridges during flooding.
It also warned of reduced visibility due to rain and fog, as well as thunderstorms, urging people to avoid high places, metal structures, tall trees, water, and mobile phone use, and to disconnect electrical power.
The center called on relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to protect lives and property.
