Lloyd’s List: Traffic through Bab al-Mandab shows signs of stability amid blockade on Saudi shipping
LONDON, Aug. 21 (YPA) – The British maritime publication Lloyd’s List said that traffic through the Bab al-Mandab shows signs of stability amid the maritime blockade on Saudi shipping.
According to data from Lloyd’s List Intelligence, 223 vessel transits with active Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) were recorded in the Bab al-Mandeb between August 10 and 16, 2026.
Lloyd’s List reported that an increasing number of shipowners and operators are avoiding Saudi Red Sea ports, while some vessels calling at ports such as Yanbu are reportedly operating discreetly by turning off their AIS before sailing toward the Suez Canal.
It also noted that insurance coverage remains available for vessels not linked to Saudi Arabia.
