SANAA, Aug. 17 (YPA) – There are growing indications that Sanaa is succeeding in imposing maritime restrictions on Saudi oil shipments, with direct repercussions for the Kingdom’s exports to Asian markets amid risks associated with navigation through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
Data from vessel-tracking company, Kpler, showed no Saudi oil shipments passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait at the beginning of the week, indicating that Saudi tankers continue to avoid the vital maritime route.
The impact extends beyond vessel movements. Bloomberg reported that Asian refineries are resisting Saudi Aramco’s request to receive oil shipments from the Red Sea port of Yanbu, citing difficulties in finding vessels willing to sail amid the security risks.
