Senior Saudi “808” commanders reportedly depart Socotra via archipelago’s airport

SOCOTRA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Senior military commanders from Saudi Arabia’s “808” Task Force have reportedly left the Yemeni archipelago of Socotra via Hadibu Airport to an undisclosed destination, informed sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, several Saudi military personnel departed their base in Hadibu, the administrative center of the archipelago located east of the Gulf of Aden, on Monday evening. The departure reportedly follows heightened security concerns over potential strikes by missile and drone forces affiliated with the Sanaa-based authorities.

The sources added that the movement came after the arrival of Saudi military officials from the “Jabal al-Nar” military base near Mocha, which was targeted by missile and drone strikes over the past two days.

Separately, Hashim al-Socotri, the governor of Socotra appointed by the Sanaa government, called on residents of the archipelago and surrounding areas to oppose the Saudi military presence and reject external guardianship, warning against political maneuvers targeting the Yemeni population.
