UK: Over 80 MPs call for sanctions on “Israel”

LONDON, July 27 (YPA) – More than 80 British lawmakers have signed a petition demanding an embargo on arms exports to “Israeli occupation entity,” alongside economic sanctions and a ban on trade with West Bank settlements.

The initiative comes amid escalating international pressure on “Israeli occupation” over settlement expansion in the West Bank—home to approximately 750,000 settlers. It follows debates in the UK Parliament regarding the “Sanctions for Peace” bill, which calls for measures against extremist Zionist settlers and a halt to settlement trade.

Former British Foreign Secretary David Lammy reiterated that settlements are “illegal and undermine peace.” Settlement activity remains a primary obstacle to the resumption of peace negotiations, despite UN Security Council Resolution 2334 issued in 2016 demanding its cessation.
