TAIZ, June 30 (YPA) – A civilian was killed and two others seriously injured on Tuesday when a security officer opened fire in Al-Shamayatayn District of Taiz Governorate, local human rights sources reported.
The suspect, identified as Al-Zeer Muhammad Abdul-Hafidh, an officer affiliated with the Islah party-aligned security forces, allegedly shot Adel Al-Awar outside his home in Turbah city. Al-Awar died instantly, while two bystanders, Munif Jihad Al-Dhabhani and Abdullah Ghalib, sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized at Khalifa Hospital. Local residents detained the suspect after he attempted to flee.
In a separate incident in the Al-Aza’iz area, local residents intervened to rescue a child abducted by African migrants. The residents detained the kidnappers in the mountainous Al-Kanab region and handed them over to local authorities.
The incidents have triggered widespread public protests amid growing concern over the deteriorating security situation and rising crime rates in districts controlled by Saudi-backed forces.
