TAIZ, June 26 (YPA) – Gas filling stations in the city of Taiz announced a general strike on Friday in protest over an armed attack on the Al-Jabal station in the Wadi al-Qadi area, during which assailants reportedly seized cash from station workers.
According to eyewitnesses, armed men allegedly affiliated with local armed factions stormed the station, confiscated money from employees at gunpoint, and fled the scene.
The incident has raised concerns over the security situation in the city.
Station operators declared a complete shutdown of gas stations and suspended services until those responsible for the attack are arrested and brought to justice.
Videos circulated by local activists purportedly documenting the incident sparked widespread public anger, with residents expressing frustration over deteriorating security conditions and the impact on daily life.
The incident comes amid ongoing economic and service challenges in Taiz, including recurring fuel and gas shortages, as well as broader concerns about security and governance in the city.
