US troops, equipment airlifted to strategic camp in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, June 13 (YPA) – US troops and military equipment arrived on Saturday at a strategic camp in Hadramout province in eastern Yemen, in a move that comes amid reports of new military arrangements in the province’s oil-rich areas.

“Yemen Press Agency” learned from its source in Hadramout that the US forces arrived at the “Nahb” camp in Ghail Bin Yamin district, via “Chinook” helicopters, suggesting that those forces may have departed from Al-Rayyan Airport in the city of Mukalla, which the US forces have been using as a military base for their operations since 2016, or from one of the fleets in the Arabian Sea.

The source did not reveal the nature of the tasks assigned to these forces, but confirmed that the transfer of soldiers and military equipment to the region, which includes strategic oil fields, is still ongoing.

These moves come in conjunction with information published by the agency during the past weeks, indicating the existence of US-Saudi tendencies to establish missile defense systems in the oil areas of the province, in an effort aimed, according to observers, at securing the resumption of the looting of Yemeni oil wealth, which has been halted since October 2022.
