ADEN/ABYAN, April 29 (YPA) – Pro-Saudi security forces in Aden and Abyan Governorates, southern Yemen, launched a sweeping arrest campaign on Wednesday, targeting elements aligned with the UAE.
This security crackdown follows heightened international condemnation regarding the mid-week assassination of Abdulrahman al-Shaer, a prominent leader in the Islah Party.
The operation has reportedly led to the detention of four suspects, including a member of the “Support and Reinforcement” faction led by Nabil al-Mushushi, who recently returned from the UAE.
According to investigative reports, initial confessions have implicated high-ranking security officials in Aden—most notably Musleh al-Dharhani—in several criminal activities, including murder.
These developments have cast a shadow over the security situation in the city of Aden, the interim capital of the Saudi-backed government, fueling concerns over a potential surge in assassinations and a direct confrontation between rival factions in southern Yemen.
