Aviation fuel fumes claim two lives in Aden, leave third in intensive care

ADEN, April 29 (YPA) – Two young men died this Tuesday in Aden city, southern Yemen, while a third remains in critical condition after inhaling lethal aviation fuel fumes, in a tragic incident reflecting the dire conditions facing local youth.

According to medical sources, the victims resorted to these toxic vapors seeking a cheap, fleeting sense of euphoria, which instead resulted in immediate and irreversible nervous system damage.

This alarming trend is driven by a combination of factors, primarily the ease of access and low cost of such substances compared to traditional drugs. However, the medical community warns that these alternatives are far more volatile, often leading to acute chemical poisoning and sudden death.

The rise of such fatal habits is further exacerbated by the severe psychological pressure and widespread unemployment plaguing the region.

Furthermore, local reports link this social decay to the broader political landscape, alleging that the policies of the Saudi-Emirati coalition have systematically flooded Aden and southern governorates with narcotics like “Shabu” and hashish to undermine the fabric of society.

Ultimately, the deepening economic collapse continues to push vulnerable youth toward increasingly deadly methods of escape, leading to these catastrophic outcomes.
