Hamas welcomes BRICS summit’s positions in support of Palestinian cause

GAZA, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomed on Sunday the “New Delhi Declaration 2026” issued by the 18th BRICS Summit held in India, praising its stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its affirmation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

In a statement, the movement commended the declaration’s emphasis on the right to self-determination, the right of return, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Hamas also lauded BRICS’ backing of full United Nations membership for Palestine, as well as its rejection of forced displacement, any geographic or demographic alterations in Gaza, and its continued support for UNRWA.

Furthermore, Hamas commended the summit’s call to end the illegal occupation, its rejection of altering the historical status quo of Jerusalem (Quds), and its condemnation of using starvation as a weapon, targeting civilians, and obstructing humanitarian aid.

The movement called on BRICS member states to translate these political positions into practical steps to halt Israeli violations and terminate the occupation.

The summit’s final declaration had expressed firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians and called for full compliance with UN Security Council resolutions regarding Gaza, while voicing concern over ongoing violence despite the ceasefire agreed upon in October 2025.
