GAZA, April 20 (YPA) – Hamas called on Sunday for the Israeli occupation to be compelled to fulfill its obligations under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, as a prerequisite for entering serious dialogue regarding the second phase.
In a press statement, the movement explained that its delegation conducted a series of meetings in Cairo over the past week with mediators and several Palestinian factions. These talks aimed to finalize the implementation of the first phase’s provisions as outlined in the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement.
The movement noted that these efforts come in light of the occupation’s failure to adhere to most of its commitments and its continued daily violations of the agreement.
Hamas emphasized that it has engaged positively with the dialogue process, expressing its keenness to continue coordination with mediators to reach an acceptable agreement based on Donald Trump’s initiative and the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement. Such an accord, the movement stated, would contribute to ending the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip.
The movement stressed that any agreement must include the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip and the commencement of the reconstruction process.
Hamas concluded by affirming that the implementation of the first phase represents the essential gateway for transitioning to serious negotiations regarding the second phase.
