Hodeida authorities call on Saudi-backed fighters to return to national fold

HODEIDA, Sept. 04 (YPA) – The local leadership of the Hodeida province called on fighters from the province serving in Saudi-backed military buildups along the western coast to return to the national fold and leave their positions.

During an expanded meeting, Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi stressed that the homeland has room for all its sons and that the rights and property of those who return will be protected.

He said the call was motivated by a desire to prevent bloodshed and rescue those who had been misled from continuing to serve foreign agenda, urging residents of the districts of Hays and Al-Khokha to seize the opportunity to return and avoid being drawn into escalation plans.

Deputy Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdul Majeed Al-Murtada, for his part, said Saudi Arabia is using people from Tihama to fight their fellow countrymen, urging fighters serving with Saudi-backed forces to assess developments and take advantage of the opportunity to return. He warned that relying on foreign powers would bring them nothing but loss.

The meeting stressed the need to strengthen social cohesion in Hodeida and thwart attempts to drag residents of the governorate into conflicts serving Saudi interests.
