Spain proposes suspending European partnership with Israeli occupation

MADRID, April. 19 (YPA) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Sunday that his government will take a significant diplomatic step within the European Union next Tuesday aimed at redefining relations with Israel in light of current developments in the region.

During a political event in Gibraltar, Sánchez said that Spain will formally propose to its European partners the suspension of the partnership agreement linking the EU to Israel.

He stressed that any government that violates international law cannot remain a partner of the European Union and requires a firm stance against what he described as flagrant violations of international humanitarian law.

It’s noteworthy that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced last Tuesday the suspension of Italy’s defense agreement with Israel, which includes the exchange of military equipment and technology research.
