Int’l Rights Report: Torture, sexual violence against Gaza detainees in Israeli occupation jails is “systematic policy”
OCCUPIED PALESTINE, April 11 (YPA) – A recent international rights report published by Middle East Eye, based on testimonies gathered by the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, has revealed a dangerous escalation in violations against Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip in the Israeli occupation prisons.
The report confirms that torture and sexual violence have become a “systematic pattern and state policy” rather than isolated incidents.
Among the grave violations shocking physical and sexual assaults were documented, particularly at the “Sde Teiman” facility, occurring amidst a total absence of oversight, according to the report.
The report highlighted the culture of impunity, as the use of blackmail and psychological pressure is protected by legislation that grants absolute detention powers, such as the “Unlawful Combatants Law.”
It noted the collective responsibility, accusing of medical and judicial institutions of covering up crimes and failing to hold perpetrators accountable.
The report concluded that these practices amount to grave international crimes, given the profound and lasting physical and psychological trauma inflicted on victims and Palestinian society at large.
