TEHRAN, April 04 (YPA) – Iran’s military declared on Saturday that it had carried out a large-scale drone attack on Lydda Airport, (known as Ben Gurion) in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The operation was described as a response to what Tehran called the use of the airport by American and Israeli enemy forces in operations against Iran.
In statement No. 54, the Iranian army said the strike took place in the early hours of the morning, targeting the new control tower, towers at Terminals 1 and 2, as well as navigation systems, radars, and antennas within the airport.
The statement said the attack aimed to disrupt the enemy’s command and control systems, interfere with military air traffic coordination, hinder air operations, disable monitoring and electronic warfare systems, and limit the ability to surveil the airspace.”
The military emphasized that Iran’s responses to what it described as enemy actions would continue continuously and in proportion to the level of escalation.
Iran noted that on February 28, the United States and Israeli enemy launched what it termed a “new aggression,” which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and targeted schools, hospitals, mosques, and other civilian infrastructure.
In retaliation, Iran launched Operation “True Promise 4” targeting Israeli sites and US bases in the region.
