US rescue mission for 2 pilots downed over Iran fails

TEHRAN, April 03 (YPA) – Conflicting reports have emerged regarding an aerial confrontation and intensive search operations following the downing of a US fighter jet by Iranian air defenses earlier today.

According to the “Tasnim” news agency, citing informed sources, the US military launched a rescue attempt involving “Black Hawk” helicopters and a “C-130” transport aircraft. The mission reportedly failed and was forced to withdraw after coming under fire from air defense systems near the border.

A security official in Ilam Province denied reports of any ground landing operations, confirming that the security situation remains stable. Concurrently, Iranian authorities and officials in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province urged citizens to cooperate in locating and capturing the pilots alive, announcing financial rewards for information leading to their apprehension.

The US outlet “Axios” confirmed the downing of the aircraft carrying two pilots, noting that search and rescue efforts are currently ongoing. There has been no detailed official statement from the Pentagon regarding the outcome of the latest mission.

These developments come amid a state of high security alert in Iranian provinces adjacent to the presumed crash site, as tracking operations continue from both sides.
