Spain closes its airspace to US aircraft attacking Iran

MADRID, March 30 (YPA) – Spain has announced the closure of its airspace to American aircraft involved in the war against Iran.

The Spanish newspaper El País reported that the ban not only prohibits the use of the Rota (Cádiz) and Morón de la Frontera (Seville) air bases by fighter jets or refueling aircraft participating in the attack, but also extends to the use of Spanish airspace by US aircraft based in third countries, such as the United Kingdom or France.

Flying and landing are permitted only in emergency situations.

Spain had already banned the United States from using its military bases to attack Iran in early March.

On March 25, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez told the Congress of Deputies that the conflict in the Middle East was far worse than the war in Iraq.

Sánchez stressed the importance of remembering the consequences of the Iraq campaign to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
