Hezbollah: Israeli enemy withdraws remaining forces after clashes in Khiam

BEIRUT, March 05 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon (Hezbollah)  said on Wednesday that the Israeli army had withdrawn the remaining vehicles and soldiers to Tal al-Hamamis following clashes in the southern Lebanese town of Khiam.

The group noted that its fighters carried out 18 attacks on Israeli military positions on Wednesday.

In a statement, Hezbollah said: “After the heroic clashes by the fighters of the Islamic Resistance with Israeli enemy forces in the town of Khiam, the enemy was forced to withdraw the remaining vehicles and soldiers to Tal al-Hamamis.”

The group added that a separate statement detailing the course of the fighting would be issued later.

In a later statement, Hezbollah said its fighters fired a rocket barrage at Israeli forces after monitoring the movement of a unit advancing from the occupied Tal al-Hamamis hill in southern Lebanon to support a force that had been ambushed in the southern neighbourhood of Khiam.

It said the clashes in the area were still ongoing at the time of the statement.

Hezbollah also said its fighters targeted Israeli forces at 20:30 with a rocket barrage in the Khallat Wadi al-Asafir area of Khiam, and carried out a second rocket attack on the same location at 22:30.

In another statement issued shortly before midnight, the group said its fighters engaged Israeli forces that tried to advance towards the town of Dhayra at 23:20, claiming the confrontation caused confirmed casualties among Israeli troops.

Lebanese resistance group said their operations are part of a response to the criminal “Israeli” aggression that targeted dozens of Lebanese cities and towns, including Beirut’s southern suburb [Dahyieh].
