Israeli warplanes launch airstrikes on southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, March 3 (YPA) — Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes earlier today on several towns in southern Lebanon, the country’s state-run National News Agency reported.

According to the agency, the drone strikes deliberately struck the towns of Kfarsir, Zrarieh, Siddiqin, Kfarmelki, and Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, with two consecutive raids reported on Zrarieh.

Israeli fighter jets also targeted the area between the towns of Taybeh and Deir Siryan, and that the outskirts of Aita al-Shaab came under artillery shelling, the agency said.

In the meantime, Israeli armored vehicles reportedly advanced into multiple locations and towns in southern Lebanon.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon rose to 52 with 154 injuries.

Israeli fighter jets targeted a residential apartment in the al-Janah area in Beirut’s southern suburbs, killing several civilians and injuring others.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Said announced the opening of 171 shelters across Lebanon, currently accommodating around 29,000 displaced people.

Earlier, Israeli military army issued an evacuation warning for residents of 53 towns in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley to the east, in preparation for a large-scale bombardment.
