RIYADH, March 03 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the United States Embassy compound in the capital, Riyadh, was struck by multiple drones, marking a serious security escalation amid peak regional tensions between Washington and Tehran.
In an official statement, the ministry said preliminary assessments indicate that two unmanned aerial vehicles were used in the strike against the American diplomatic complex.
Authorities confirmed that the attack caused a limited fire and structural damage to parts of the building.
No immediate reports of casualties were released.
Residents in several neighborhoods surrounding the embassy reported hearing powerful explosions that shook nearby districts.
Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising above the heavily fortified compound and were visible from a distance.
Following the incident, security forces imposed a tight cordon around the area, while ambulances and fire crews were seen rushing to the scene.
No group claimed responsibility of the attack.
