Geneva hosts second round of Iranian-US negotiations mediated by Oman

GENEVA, Feb. 17 (YPA) – The second round of indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States commenced in Geneva this Tuesday afternoon, hosted at the Omani Embassy.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, confirmed that the “nuclear file” remains the primary focus of these indirect discussions.

Heading the Iranian delegation, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi aims to reach an agreement that ensures the lifting of sanctions and protects the interests of the Iranian people.

This round was preceded by intensive meetings held by Araghchi, including talks with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and his Omani counterpart, to clarify Tehran’s technical and political positions.

These meetings follow a preliminary round that began in Muscat on February 6, where Oman acted as a mediator for exchanging views between the two delegations. Iranian sources reiterated that the negotiations are strictly limited to the nuclear file and the removal of sanctions.
