ATHENS, Feb. 16 (YPA) – The Greek capital, Athens, witnessed a demonstration protesting the participation of the Israeli occupation in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
The protest took place yesterday, during the qualifying rounds held to select the song that will represent Greece in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
People in solidarity with the Palestinian cause gathered in front of the Athens Festival Complex, which hosted the qualifying rounds, to condemn the occupation’s participation in the contest following its perpetration of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
In addition, the demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans such as: “The hearts of humanity beat for Gaza, we are with Palestine until freedom,” “Don’t cover up the crimes and the occupation,” and “Freedom for Palestine.”
The demonstrators also carried banners that read “Music doesn’t hide the bombing” and “Freedom for Palestine, isolation for Israel,” demanding that Israel be banned from participating in the contest.
