BAGHDAD, Feb. 14 (YPA) – The Iraqi Ministry of Justice announced on Saturday that 5,703 ISIS operatives had been transferred from Syria to Iraq, representing 61 nationalities in one of the largest prisoner transfers linked to the group.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, ministry spokesperson Ahmed Luaibi stated that the detainees include 5,253 Arabs and 983 individuals from non-Arab countries. He added that all necessary procedures have been completed to place them in Iraqi prisons.

On Friday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the transfer process, which began on January 21, has been completed. The move was carried out as part of security arrangements to oversee the detainees’ trials and imprisonment within Iraqi territory.
