Dangerous Emirati moves revealed to inflame Yemen south against Saudi Arabia

ADEN, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The UAE has warned leaders of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Riyadh to leave Saudi Arabia, according to informed sources in Aden,

The sources said Abu Dhabi’s fears that Saudi Arabia may pressure the UAE-backed STC leadership into adopting Riyadh’s positions on the “southern issue.”

They added that the UAE cautioned the STC against aligning with the conciliatory tone Saudi Arabia has recently taken on the matter, emphasizing that “the southern issue has advanced significantly under the UAE’s patronage of the STC.

According to the sources, Abu Dhabi also signaled to STC leaders in southern Yemen that the next phase could bring many surprises if they continue to make concessions to Saudi Arabia.

The sources further claimed that pro-UAE leaders in southern Yemen have expressed confidence to STC supporters that efforts are underway to internationalize the southern issue and move it beyond Riyadh’s control, including escalating anti-Saudi protests in southern and eastern Yemen.

Notably, southern and eastern regions of Yemen have recently witnessed growing popular demonstrations rejecting Saudi influence, after Riyadh reportedly expelled UAE forces from those areas on December 30, following tensions related to the UAE’s deployment in the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Mahra.
