SANAA, Jan. (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Specialized Criminal Court sentenced on Saturday Abdulrahman Adel Abdulrahman to death by firing squad on charges of involvement in an alleged espionage network linked to US, Israeli, and Saudi intelligence services.
According to court proceedings, the prosecution accused Abdulrahman of maintaining contact with “hostile parties” and taking part in intelligence activities that included monitoring sensitive military and strategic sites, such as weapons manufacturing facilities and missile and drone launch locations, as well as collecting information on senior Ansarallah leaders.
The court ruled that the execution be carried out in a public place, citing the seriousness of the charges and their alleged direct threat to national security.
The verdict has drawn international criticism, with human rights organizations and Yemen’s internationally recognized government denouncing the proceedings as politically motivated “sham trials,” and raising concerns that confessions in such cases are frequently obtained under coercion.
