Sayoun Hospital receives 100 bodies of STC recruits killed in Saudi airstrikes in Hadramout

HADRMAOUT, Jan. 31 (YPA) – The Sayoun General Hospital in Hadramout Governorate, eastern Yemen, received approximately 100 bodies of dissolved UAE-backed “Southern Transitional Council” (STC) recruits on Friday.

The remains were transported via trucks from the remote “Ramah” area, nearly a month after they were killed.

Local and medical sources confirmed that the victims—most of whom are from Dhalea and Lahj governorates—perished during Saudi airstrikes targeting their positions in the Hadramout valley districts last December. The strikes occurred after the factions reportedly refused to withdraw from sites they had seized following their arrival from Aden.

The delayed transfer of the bodies from the desert regions remains shrouded in mystery, coinciding with rapid military and political shifts that led to the withdrawal of UAE-backed elements from Hadramout and Mahra. Observers warn that the mass arrival of these remains could further escalate the simmering tensions between Saudi authorities and STC supporters in Aden.
