Military expert reveals strategic UAE bases in Yemen, their regional implications
ADEN, Dec. 31 (YPA) – The Yemeni military expert, Ali Al-Nessi, revealed on Tuesday field details regarding the continued UAE military presence in Yemen, despite Abu Dhabi’s announced intention to withdraw.
According to an information map published by Al-Nessi, indicators suggest that the UAE intends to maintain control over vital strategic bases, including the Abdul al-Kuri base in Socotra province, the Balhaf, Marah, and Al-Alam bases in Shabwa province, as well as naval and air facilities on the islands of Mayon and Zuqar in the Red Sea.
The expert further noted that maintaining these sites serves broader regional interests, alleging that the UAE presence acts as a cover for establishing advanced Israeli military observation posts.
These sites are reportedly aimed at monitoring and securing international shipping lanes in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, raising questions about the credibility of the withdrawal announcement and its impact on the regional balance of power.
