MUNICH, Dec. 24 (YPA) – Insurance companies Allianz and Aviva have ended their coverage for the Israeli occupation arms company, Elbit Systems, according to anti-occupation activists.
According to the activists, the two companies no longer provide insurance services to the occupation company after months of action, claims, and protests against it because of the genocide committed in the Gaza Strip.
The action was initiated by the Palestine Action group in October 2024 against the occupation company.
Activist Huda Ammouri, co-founder of Palestine Action, said that this victory is proof of the power of direct action and also shows why Palestine Action was banned.
The groups Defend Our Juris and Perseveres for Palestine, which oppose the ban, said in a post that this development shows that direct action works.
The termination of coverage for the occupation company dates back to the beginning of last month by Allianz, while Aviva ended its insurance coverage last September.
Elbit Systems monopolizes approximately 80% of the weapons and equipment for the Israeli army’s ground forces, and 85% of the combat drones used by the Israeli air force.
