Yemen secures two bronze medals at Weightlifting Championships in Qatar

DOHA, Dec. 21 (YPA) – Yemeni national weightlifting team member, Basil Al-Ambari, won two bronze medals in the “Clean and Jerk” and “Total” categories at the Arab Championship, Qatar Cup, and West Asian Championship, currently being held in Doha through December 27, 2025.

Al-Ambari’s achievement marks a strong start for the Yemeni delegation, which arrived in Doha last Friday. The team is led by Secretary-General of the Federation, Abdulkhaliq Al-Khamisi, and includes a squad of nine athletes.

The momentum continues this coming Tuesday, as lifters Murad Al-Samawi and Yazan Nasser are set to compete in the 79 kg weight class.

The national team delegation includes technical staff led by coach Mazen Salem and administrative official Fawaz Al-Maqbili, alongside nine athletes representing Yemen in this regional sporting event.
