ISTANBUL, Dec. 21 (YPA) – A high-level leadership delegation from Hamas movement, led by Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, met with the Head of the Turkish Intelligence Agency (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, in Istanbul to discuss the latest developments regarding the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The delegation emphasized the need to compel the Israeli occupation to fulfill its obligations under the first phase of the deal and transition to the second phase. They highlighted ongoing Israeli violations that have resulted in the deaths of over 400 Palestinians since the truce began.
During the meeting, the movement delegation reviewed the deteriorating living conditions with the onset of winter. Hamas stressed the urgent need for tents, prefabricated housing (caravans), and heavy machinery to repair destroyed infrastructure and homes.
The two sides discussed Turkey’s role in resolving outstanding issues and creating the necessary conditions for the next stage of the agreement, while underscoring the importance of Palestinian national unity and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The delegation concluded by expressing its appreciation for Turkey’s political and humanitarian efforts in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.
