LJUBLJANA, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Slovenian Broadcasting Authority, Natalia Goršak, expressed her country’s refusal to share the same stage with “Israel” in the Eurovision Song Contest (2026).
This came in a statement following the Authority’s recent announcement of its boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest (2026) due to Israel being allowed to participate in the competition.
Slovenia had announced on December 4th its official withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, in protest against allowing Israel to participate.
Goršak said: “We cannot share the same stage with Israel, which has destroyed 92 percent of Gaza, and killed more than 20,000 children and more than 250 journalists.”
“We cannot talk about the unifying role of music with representatives of a regime that does not respect human rights. We are a public broadcaster and we must have high moral values. We made our decision out of respect for the people of Gaza. We believe that history will show that we were on the right side,” she added.
