Protests held in Italy against Israeli team’s participation in European competitions

ROME, Dec. 13 (YPA) – The Italian city of Bologna witnessed a protest against the Israeli basketball team “Hapoel Tel Aviv” before its game against Virtus Bologna in the 15th round of the EuroLeague.

Reports indicated that protesters carrying Palestinian flags marched from Parker Lennon Park near San Donato before the game to express their rejection of Israeli teams’ participation in international sporting competitions.

The protesters set off fireworks and chanted slogans such as “Free Gaza” and “Freedom for Palestine.”

The protest march ended peacefully in Piazza 8 de Agosto, where Italian security forces closed the roads leading to the stadium.
